Our History

Hermosa Community Church is a church with over 50 years of ministry in Chicago. Originally located near Madison & State in Downtown Chicago, under the name Defenders of the Christian Faith Church Inc. the church has moved constantly in order to be able to serve the needs of the Latino population of Chicago.

Throughout its history Hermosa Community Church has contributed to the growth of the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ both nationally and internationally. Our home grown ministers are presently leading other renowned churches in Chicago as well as throughout the United States. At the same time our ministers have and continue to support other ministries in Kansas, Indiana and in Spain.

Our Present:

Located in the Hermosa neighborhood in Chicago, at 1701 N. Tripp Avenue, our objective is to expand our impact in the city and we are interested in fulfilling the needs of the people of this great metropolis, regardless of their racial, ethnic, national, origin or socio-economic status.  We are not multi-cultural because in principle we are Monotheistic, nevertheless; with the purpose of fulfilling our vision and be faithful to the Great Commission, we are a Bilingual and vibrant church, active participants in the life of our community.

Our Future:

Hermosa Community Church is not a church that appeared overnight, on the contrary, we are a church with a foundation based specifically on our belief in Jesus Christ as Savior of the World, God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Is this “FAITH” our assurance of a glorious future in Heaven and a marvelous present here on Earth, as we faithfully discharge the command of the Great Commission given to us by Jesus, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.”
